Hockey skating is simply that, skating for hockey. It is sometimes
referred to as "Power skating". It is a discipline designed
to help the player discover how to get their skates to do everything
demanded of them in a hockey game: speed, quickness, agility,
power, and control under any set of circumstances. Skills taught
and perfected in these skating lessons/clinics include but are
not limited to, starts, edge control, forward stride, backward
crossovers, balance, stops, etc. Hockey skating instruction does
not include stick handling, shooting, or other hockey skills.
During the skating lessons the focus is strictly on the single
most important and fundamental aspect of the game, skating!
Various training is offered through COLDRUSH:

 |
Generally 30
minutes in length, highly instructional with a focus on skill
detail and body awareness. Private lessons provide the most
one-on-one learning time. Private lessons are offered during
non-peak hours September-June. Contact lessons@coldrushhockey for instruction rates and availability.
|

 |
2-4 skaters of
similar age, level, and learning style, generally 30 minutes
in length. The main points of focus of the semi-private lessons
are understanding the skills, learning to recognize mistakes
in others for the purpose of self-teaching, and being challenged
by equally skilled skaters. Semi-private lessons are the lessons
of choice for most hockey players. Wendy usually picks from
her pool of students and places skaters together that she
believes match in a way that will allow each skater to achieve
their maximum potential. She does move skaters if she feels
another group will better suit his/her needs and allow growth
at a faster rate. Semi-private
lessons are offered September-June. Contact lessons@coldrushhockey for instruction rates and availability.

Hockey skating
training sessions customized for the interested team or organization.
The coach determines the skills covered, intensity, and length
of session, which the ColdRush team will implement. This type of lesson
is taught on ice that is already contracted by the team. ColdRush offers team
training at all of the rinks in the Washington area and will,
in some cases, travel out of the area for special events.Contact lessons@coldrushhockey.com to schedule your team training.

Many different
hockey schools and organizations hire Wendy to run the skating
portion of their camps and clinics. To spend time on the ice
with Wendy at one of these events the skater will need to
register directly with the organization that is hosting the
camp or clinic. For a complete list of the upcoming camps
and clinics that Wendy will be instructing please see the "Where in the World
is Wendy" page. If you'd like to have Wendy run a
camp or clinic at your rink or work as a guest instructor
please contact her by email.
Rates vary depending on travel.
